July Newsletter
Updated: Aug 9, 2021
Hello 3D4D members!
We are coming to the end of July and our second exhibition
here at 3D4D! We are so excited about what we’ve achieved
so far and the new opportunities to come. And all the new
ways we’ll be interacting with the community and you, our
members, here in the upcoming month. Here’s an update of
what we've done and what we’re working on now.
Announcing 3D4D Workshops!
This summer, 3D4D launches workshops for youth to kick off our first educational programming in the gallery, in person! 3D4D by CSI provides creative opportunities for everyone focusing on themes in contemporary art. If you are a practicing artist, hobbyist, or family looking for new educational opportunities there are classes for your skill level and interests. Instructors are local professionals at the top of their disciplines.
3D4D by CSI is for everyone!
Our community is more interesting with diverse perspectives and voices. We encourage and welcome artists of all backgrounds to experience 3D4D and have scholarship opportunities available in case of need to make programs available to all.
To apply for workshop scholarships or more information and reservation available here https:// www.3d4dbycsi.org/education
Last weekend, we started off with “Latin American Tales: The Magic of Storytelling and Art” hosted by artist/curator Pia Cruzalegui and Chicago author Michael Zapata. Students from the community and local non-profit Casa Central. Students made collaged pieces and learned about the cultural and historical importance of storytelling.

Our upcoming workshops are:

“Have Your Art & Eat It Too” Sunday August 8
It’s a feast for your mouth and your eyes! With inspiration from Giuseppe Arcimboldo painting, The Gardener, a food art sculpture led by 3D4D artist Janet Austin.
“You Can’t Eat That!” Sunday August 29

Explore art-making with single-use plastics while we pretend to be sushi chefs! Students will discover the possibilities and process of making Plastic Shim, transforming everyday “trash” into edible looking artwork worthy of your wall. Artist Bryan Northup will offer brief demonstrations on techniques originated in his art practice and guide the group while they create a small sushi-themed wall relief or small sculpture.
All COVID-19 health precautions will be followed, instructors are fully vaccinated.
* 3D4D is fundraising for an online platform where we plan to host our workshops and offer additional digital content. We welcome donations toward this goal.
3D4D’s current group exhibition, Re-Imagining Connection, runs through today, July 30, closing with a second artist conversation from 6-7pm.
