3D4D Blog

This summer, 3D4D launches workshops for youth to kick off our first educational programming in the gallery, in person! With pandemic conditions improving we wanted to offer a place to connect in-person again.

Check out the workshops on https://www.3d4dbycsi.org/education

3D4D by CSI provides creative opportunities for everyone focusing on themes in contemporary art. If you are a practicing artist, hobbyist, or family looking for new educational opportunities there are classes for your skill level and interests. Instructors are local professionals at the top of their disciplines.

Our current programming is for youth and is planned for in-person. We intend to offer virtual versions of the in person sessions with additional content from collaborators in the near future. 3D4D is fundraising for an online platform where we plan to host our workshops and offer additional digital content. We welcome donations toward this goal.

At 3D4D by CSI, we recognize our personal social responsibility. All COVID-19 health precautions will be followed, instructors are fully vaccinated. As well, a portion of our programming proceeds benefit other Chicago community philanthropic groups.

“Often observations of the world around me, or testing the limits of a material get me started. I’m always motivated, though, by the way shapes relate to each other and the tension in a negative space” - Ron Gard.

Ron, a well-known local Chicago Sculptor, passed away in 2019. Gard was a member of Chicago Sculpture International since 2010 and a long-time board member of CSI. Ron had been making sculpture since 1977, and his work has been exhibited throughout the country. He was a large contributor for multiple Chicago public sculpture shows, including the famous Chicago Lakefront Sculpture Exhibit, 2012-2013, hosted by the Chicago Park District. A man of many passions, he was not only an accomplished sculptor, but he was also a big figure in the film and design industries, designing and producing a wide array of props and furniture. One of his iconic projects was his work on the set for the film, Superman: Man of Steel.
